Biscuit Tournament 2017!!! Round 1!
Biscuit Tournament is back with a vengeance!! This first week was wild and we are pretty sure it is setting the tone for the whole tournament.
In the sweet side of the competition:
HOLY CANNOLI (HC): Cinnamon and pistachio biscuit with ricotta fluff and chocolate chips by Aris Taconi.
VS
ROSEMARY STRAWBERRY (RS): Rosemary biscuit with balsamic strawberries, honey fluff and crystallized ginger by Melissa Johnson
In the savory side of the competition:
GREMOLATA LIKE IT (GLI): Garlic sweet potato biscuit with lemon garlic oil and feta fluff by Barbara Goostree
VS
THE PLT (PLT): Garlic basil biscuit with pimento cheese, blistered cherry tomatoes and iceberg lettuce by Natalie Jacob.

WE ASKED FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND THEY WERE GREAT! ( I WILL USE THE INITIALS OF THE BISCUITS THAT ARE BEING COMMENTED ON)
RS: Rosemary Strawberry. The clear champion. Clean fruit notes, bergamot, rich, full and mellow. Frustrated to understand if strawberry could achieve Aceto Balsamico di Modena, balsamic levels so tantalizing and mysterious?? The answer, yes. The middle notes: clary rosemary, as fragrant as a young bride’s bouquet, the notes of which have their own choreography upon my palate. Crystallized ginger and honey fluff?? This addition was impressive, it is almost the thing itself. One bite equated to a symphony that begins loudly, then soon slides into subtle, entangling developments that grow upon themselves. This biscuit revelation, itself knows the crowd will come to hear it sing; but our draw to her performance, we secretly come to be seen. A true winner, of time and space.
HC: Took me back to Italy! Even though I have never been there.....

GLI: Such a strong delicious lemon flavor!
RS: So delectable. My vote was set once I tasted the ginger/strawberry combo. A perfect Yin & Yang duo!
GLI: Just when you think the sweet potato biscuit can't get better, it just did! The flavors were so perfect and just right. Thanks for the goodness :)
RS: just the right amount of sweetness. I don't even like ginger and I will eat this.
GLI: so full of wonderful flavors, I would love to see it on the menu all the time! Love, love, love!
RS: I would have never thought to put this combo together but it was so delicious! :)
PLT: The combo of the garlic with the pimento cheese and tomatoes was dynamite! :)
RS: Ginger and balsamic vinegar dress up this standard strawberry shortcake and lend an air of the exotic.
GLI: The piquancy of the lemon and garlic are the perfect match for this homey sweet potato biscuit favorite.
RS: I appreciated the natural parts of this biscuit. It was stupendously sweet and could be recreated with ingredients from your back yard.
RS: Its the spicy ginger cutting through the really sweet strawberries that put this over the top.
GLI: This biscuit was unlike anything I've had before.
HC: It had amazing flavor.
GLI: What else can I say, but feta fluff. <3 <3 <3
PLT: Both savory and cooling with the lettuce and tomatoes. Good for a hot day!

RS: Hands down the best! It destroys the other flavors in one bite. I am in love. Damn this is good. (still chewing)
RS: The perfect sweet biscuit for those of us who prefer savory. This is a beautiful flavor combo with a ginger surprise! Love it.
PLT: Loved it! The garlic basil was so good with the pimento!
RS: A rosemary biscuit with balsamic strawberries? This made me want to run through a field of rosemary brush.
HC: Tasty morsels within a heavenly blanket!
