IIB:  Strange Brew
CC: Like a cool summer picnic in your mouth!
MM: I'll get down and dirty for this biscuit any day! 
F:  Frangipane!  More like " Fran, gee, (my) pan (ts) are off! 
IIB:  What the heck was that?!  I mean, whaaa? Its complicated, but I  like it!  Didn't think peanut butter & kimchi would work.  
CC:  Better than the other option. 
F:  What a surprise!  The Mint was a perfect touch!  
MM: Wow! Just the right amount of chocolate!  And this TX girl always loves a good pecan! 
CC:  Tastes like spring. Very Good!
IIB:  Such a delicious unique flavor!  I'd have never thought kimchi would work so well on a biscuit.  Creativity that tastes good.
F:  I really loved the balance of flavors.  When I ate it I felt like i was transported to a tropical Island.
MM:  It tastes like a good fancy brownie! 
F: Great combination of flavors!  Even baby Lolo liked this one!  
IIB:  Too weird for me!
CC: I looooooove cucumbers and the biscuit was very refreshing.  
F:  Just pure yummies
CC:  Surprisingly tasty!  What a creative combination of ingredients!
F:  Left me wanting one more bite! 
CC: Memories of Greece...
F: Probably my one of my favorite sweet biscuits i have tasted in the three years I have been coming to the tournament! 
CC:  Very refreshing!  Plus that little kick of heat was BAM!  Put it over the top!
IIB:  A beastly delicious kimchi experience!  11/10
F:  My tastebuds couldn't stop tangoing with mango & mint! 
MM:  Delish! Like I imagine the bed of the MS River. 
F:  Would eat this on the regular! 
IIB:  WTF.
CC:  A refreshing mouthful of summer.
MM:  Rich as a brownie!  Could be dessert!
F:  I'm not going to lie. No false Modesty.  That frangipane biscuit is bright and elegant! 
CC:  Yummmmmm!  The perfect savory bite in a biscuit! Very cool!!!!!
IIB/CC:  The kimchi biscuit is sneaky ugly delicious, but that green onion biscuit is killer. 
F:  Ive already decided this is the best biscuit in the tournament. Yum!
MM: Perfect ending to a meal
F:  The jam and mango/mint was amazing.  I wanted to lick the mango off the paper it was that good  
MM: Fudgey like a brownie!

Julia Reyes - April 2018 Artist of the Month

Julia Reyes owns a wonderful gallery in Biloxi called Almost Circle, but she is an amazing artist in her own right! Her paintings and sculptures create a strong sense of nostalgia, even if it isn't for your own past. Scenes with things of Mexico, back yards, youth..... her paintings bring a feeling of wonder and thought.  

Reception:  April 28, 2018, 5-9pm.  Music by Thomas Jackson

The reception begins with a quick artist talk/question answer session. Then, the amazing Thomas Jackson will play. It will certainly be a delightful night that you do not want to miss!  (Facebook Event)

Tess G.- Greenhouse Staff

Tess has been with us for over a year now.  She has her fingers on the pulse of the Greenhouse world. She also has so much going on in her life.   She is finishing her schooling in American Sign Language and is an active member of the theater community, most recently directing the wonderful musical Heathers for Downstage Productions Theatre in Gulfport.  She will be moving out west soon, but before she leaves, we made sure to save a little piece of her here!!

What is your favorite biscuit/snack?

I could never just pick a favorite biscuit so my favorite sweet is a choco chip with peanut butter fluff and my favorite savory is corn biscuit with fluff and collards.

What is your favorite coffee?

My favorite coffee is Alabama snakes.

What is the Greenhouse to you?

To me the Greenhouse is community. Yes the building itself is a greenhouse and it’s very memorable. But the people are what make the Greenhouse stand apart. The customers and staff make the Greenhouse.
Do you have a favorite Greenhouse moment?
I have a couple of favorite Greenhouse moments the few that stand out in my mind are the Mardi Gras parade rolling past the Greenhouse and Sunday mimosa/Bloody Mary bar with Black Water Brass playing in the greenhouse.
What have you learned working at the Greenhouse?
The Greenhouse has taught me a new love for the community that I grew up in and that a job doesn’t have to be “work” if you love what you do.

The Regulars: Melissa Johnson

Melissa Johnson has been a regular at the Greenhouse for a few years now and we are so thankful for her diligent presence in the shop.  She is always so cheerful.... that is unless something stupid has happened on the news.  She is a delight.  Here is our quick interview with her.

THE FINAL RESULTS ARE IN! WHAT A TOURNAMENT IT HAS BEEN!

As the Great Biscuit tournament of 2017 comes to a close we are all grateful for all who came and ate and voted and for all who submitted their creative biscuit ideas.  Each of you is a constant reminder of why we do what we do, but its all of you who keep the magic alive.  NOW.  This tournament has been quite a rollercoaster! We've had some very exciting biscuits, from the Pickle biscuit (who would have thought?) to the Chocolate key lime!  And all of you have come, eaten, discussed and voted.

Rosemary Strawberry:

The aromatic rosemary biscuit, the marriage of the sweet strawberries and deep balsamic topped with the honey honey fluff and exotic ginger.  This biscuit is satisfactory all across the palate!

You can never go wrong with Rosemary!

Aromatic and naturally sweet!

Loved it the first taste i had last week, but not its even better because of the larger portion!

It was SOOOO hard to decide! but i think the sweet, no, the savory, no no no, it was the sweet!

I love all the complex variety of flavors!

Love the Ginger!

Sweet Rosemary strawberry is a delicious combination!

Sweet! great balance strawberry come through! Delish!

Too Cool for school!

So this week, I am the winner because these are two amazing biscuits!  Can we just extend this years tournament until the start of next year just serving these tow biscuits please and thank you management.  JK.  but please

GULF COAST COWBOY

It is the best biscuit ever! so delicious!

I like the mix a lot! It was delicious.

The Flavor is not too strong, just the right amount of the veggie.  Who doesn't like ranch?

I like this biscuit because it is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very good!!!!!

Flavorful but not over powering , its unfair to compare the two (sweet vs. savory)

I love It.

The parmesan on the biscuit and the ranch fluff on top really did it for me.

The savory was delicious!

I like savory better.  It was hard to decide though.  They were both SO delicious!

the gulf coast cowboy is y fave! Its a perfect blend of tastes.

Both great! the savory had just a bit more lunch to it!
I am just more fond of savory in general!

Both of these were too delicious, and I wish I lived closer so I could eat them every day!  But the savory was perfect with a fresh cup of sweet coffee!

This race was so close we had to count 6 times.  6 TIMES.  It makes us nervous, but the Biscuit eaters have spoken!

GLI:Garlic is AMAZING!

BCD: Because because because because.......of the wonderful things it does! Homey, earthy and oh so delicious!

GCC: It was like eating spinach dip in the biscuit form

RS: Each bite is a different experience!

BCD: Delish! I could eat 10!

GCC: Amazing, so much flavor in such a small bite!

RS: Crystalized ginger was the bomb! put it on everything!

RS: Stoooooopid good

GLI: This is in my to 3 favorite savvy biscuits. EVER

BCD: Classic

GCC: Love the ranch fluff

RS: Rosemary gives sweet biscuit extra punch

GCC: Hardest decision of my life

GLI: SO MUCH FLAVOR!

BCD: WHOOP WHOOP! Not too sweet! just right!

GCC: Artichoke was light with the spinach adding a great flavor punch, parmesan and ranch gave just enough kick to add the savory taste I was looking for

RS: Strawberries and honey fluff married so well with the rosemary. Ginger gave a freshness to it with just that measure of sweet.

GLI: The feta fluff was to die for! 

BCD: I loved the blueberry lemon combo!

Y'ALL HAD SOME THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE BISCUITS THIS WEEK:  

IP: The biscuit's flavors danced in my mouth!

VBC: Who can ARGUE wit Vanilla Bourbon Cherry?

BCD: Love the lemon fluff mixed with the blueberry lemon biscuit!

IP: Favorite savory biscuit! Love the comeback sauce mixed with Dill

VBC: Loved the Bite of the Cherry with the sweet vanilla

GCC: Lots of veggies makes this biscuit rock!

GCC: Had subtle underlying flavors with the inch being the ranch fluff

IP: Much better than I expected!
 

VBC: I never thought cherry could taste soooooooo good!

BCD: Shout out to spencer's biscuit but BCD is the real MVP!

IP: Pickles, comeback sauce and onion! My LOVE!

GCC: YEEE HAW! I tell you whut!  That Cowboy biscuit was well crafted and scrumptious!
